Glass Catwalk and Staircase

DESIGN: Wood and steel sculptural stair with glass catwalk
Developed over a cup of coffee, this sculptural staircase was a combined effort between Serett and the architect. This type of project is a favorite of ours as it allows for the exchange of ideas and collaborative design. With children in residence we wanted a balance between safety, design and creativity.
For this two story space we used the minimum amount of steel as possible with standard structural glass. The stairs are a mix of blackened steel, reclaimed oak and polished concrete. The sculptural handrail and stringers continue beyond the stairs to support a glass catwalk and landing. The concrete step was included to match the kitchen counter top.
