Blackened Steel & Stainless Steel Handrail

CLIENT:  Remsen
LOCATION:  New York
DESIGN:  Blackened steel flat bar and stainless steel rod guardrail for an existing staircase

This Brooklyn Heights study is accented with a simple blackened steel guardrail and stainless steel balusters.  A matching handrail follows the pre-existing staircase to the first floor and is secured by face-mounted, blackened steel side brackets.

We approached this project with a conservative budget in mind. The decision was made to leave the existing staircase and refinish the surface with reclaimed wood boards, resulting in a simple and organic mix of wood and metal.
